NRC deranker

NRC had just released an assessment of research doctorate programs in the US. The study has some minor issues with it, see here.

Unfortunately, it is hard to understand the ranking of universities/departments according to this report. As a service to the community I provide here a program to generate the ranking according to this report, see below for our methodology.

Methodology

The program takes the raw data from the NRC report and extract a ranking out of it. The program then computes a weighted average of it together with the program own secondary ranking. The weight assigned to the NRC report is based on its scientific value and merit, and is thus zero. The program secondary ranking is assigned the remaining weight (i.e., 1). The program secondary ranking is just a random permutation of the given list of departments.
