## How many fonts can a formula use?

Too many, according to latex. If you across the error:

LaTeX Error: Too many math alphabets used in version normal.


Then you ran across latex limit of allowing only 16 math symbols fonts. One way to bypass this limit, if you need only a single symbol, is to directly access only the needed character. For example, the following works:

$\text{\usefont{U}{bbm}{m}{n}{H}}$


Generates the H character in the bbm font.

(And, yes, I do use too many different fonts, but it is part of the fun for me…)

(And, I did not use this in the end, I found some standard alternative I liked better, but for the record…)
